Marco Adinolfi – Naples, 1973
Multidisciplinary visual artist, Marco Adinolfi has been active for over twenty years, participating in national and international exhibitions with works spanning painting, sculpture, installations, and surreal poetry. Winner of several awards in both painting and sculpture, he has also worked as an artist and artistic director in collaboration with galleries and exhibition spaces in his hometown.
After attending the Liceo Artistico, he went on to study Architecture at the Federico II University of Naples — a path that has deeply influenced his artistic and conceptual vision.
For many years, his work has revolved around the themes of Identity and Belonging, with a particular focus on his homeland. The exhibition MonoLogo, inaugurated in 2011 at the Pica Gallery in Naples to critical and public acclaim, sums up a research path started in 2003 and still ongoing. In this project, the morphology of the Campania region — evocative of the shape of a gun — is used as a metaphor to reflect on the contradictions of a land where beauty and decay, good and evil, reality and stereotype coexist.
In 2022, Adinolfi began a collaboration with MassimoOCicala, working on a series of projects conceived and created "with four hands." This partnership is based on shared research, with curiosity positioned as the key to accessing knowledge, inviting the viewer to look beyond the minimalist aesthetic and explore what lies beyond the visible.
Starting from a philosophical approach, their work materializes in the experimentation of various materials — with particular focus on the use of thread, which plays a central role as a constructive and conceptual element and a recognizable signature of their shared path.
The works resulting from this collaboration, created between 2022 and 2025, have been exhibited in both institutional and private gallery settings, between Naples and Los Angeles.
Within an ever-evolving artistic journey, this experience complements Adinolfi’s ongoing personal research, through which he continues to develop complex and individual visions.
His practice is distinguished by a constant tension between form and content, where the conceptual approach prevails over pure aesthetics, guiding a deep and critical reflection on the dynamics of contemporary reality.
His work and artistic activity have been reviewed in national and industry-specific newspapers and magazines such as Flash Art, Artribune, Exibart, Il Giornale dell’Arte, La Repubblica, Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno, and Il Mattino.
