Dios (Gods)
Series: Photography · Painting · Graphics
Year: 2006
Dios is a series that began in 2006 as part of a sculptural installation proposal involving two identical cages (210 × 60 × 60 cm) made from grids of crucifixes. The orientation of the “Christs”—facing inward or outward—symbolizes the dualism between protection and oppression within a religious context. The painting Assioma, presented in 2007 at the VI International Contemporary Art Biennale in Florence, features a cage of crucifixes over fields reminiscent of the Italian tricolor, reflecting tensions between religious power and the secular state.
