Verso
Museo / Pan - Palazzo delle Arti Napoli
solo show / Adinolfi  e_Cicala /  03.12.22 - 22.12.22

In collaboration with Galleria Mood-Project
Under the patronage of the Municipality of Naples
With the support of the Robert Walser Zentrum
With the contribution of Galleria Borbonica
With catalogue texts:
“Verso l’invisibile” by Valentina Rippa
"Camminare come filosofia di vita” by Reto Sorg

Verso is an artistic project born from the collaboration between Marco Adinolfi and Massimo_Cicala — a four-handed work inspired by “The Walk” by Robert Walser. In this literary masterpiece, the renowned Swiss author addresses themes such as journey, solitude, observation, getting lost, and appearance. Drawing on these concepts, the works invite visitors not to stop at the aesthetic and chromatic completeness of a deliberately “minimal” geometry but to go further — to approach the works with curiosity, to desecrate their supposed inviolability, to discover volumes that invade space, to see that what appears continuous is only a reflection, and to recognize more intimate “conditions” at play.
It is an invitation to pause, wait, and acknowledge that beyond the “image” there is something more — that the detail can only be discovered if curiosity is regarded as an essential condition of our existence.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the artist, top officials from the Vesuvius National Park Authority, and representatives of local institutions.

MonoLogo
Pica Gallery, Napoli
Solo show  / Marco Adinolfi / 11.01.2011 - 24.01.2011

The exhibition MonoLogo, inaugurated in 2011 at Pica Gallery in Naples, sums up an artistic journey that began in 2003 and continues to evolve. The morphology of Campania, resembling a gun, is used metaphorically to reflect on the territory’s dichotomies — where beauty and decay, good and evil, reality and stereotype coexist.

The concept of MonoLogo arises from this observation and becomes the symbolic core of the artist’s investigation. This “logo,” recurring in Adinolfi’s works, represents the tension between a place’s identity and its stereotyped perception; the gun, while symbolizing violence, also evokes a state of perpetual emergency. The most emblematic work from this series, now exhibited in the Roberto Saviano Room of the CAM Museum in Casoria, is L’Ottimista (2007) — a sculpture made of garbage bags, reflecting this duality with a hidden “positive” and an overt “negative,” symbolized by the gun.

MonoLogo goes beyond depicting Campania through a logo; it explores themes of crime, tradition, rhetoric, and constant emergency. Irony and paradox, intrinsic to Neapolitan culture, permeate the works — offering both a sharp social critique and a deeper reflection on existence and the region’s contemporary challenges. The project highlights the ongoing tension between identity, belonging, and transformation.

Fragile Fanzago
Palazzo Carafa di Maddaloni, Napoli
Solo show  / Marco Adinolfi / maggio 2002
VIII edition of Maggio dei Monumenti

Marco Adinolfi participated in the 8th edition of Maggio dei Monumenti with his solo exhibition Fragile Fanzago, featuring painting and sculpture inside the 17th-century Palazzo Carafa di Maddaloni in Naples.

With over thirty years of history, Maggio dei Monumenti is one of Naples’ most longstanding cultural events. Inspired by the success of Napoli Porte Aperte (1992–1993), it began in 1994, transforming the historic center into an “Open-Air Museum,” now included by UNESCO among World Heritage Sites. Over the years, the initiative expanded to include theatrical performances and contemporary art exhibitions, playing a key role in promoting and valorizing the region’s cultural realities.

Logica incoerenza tra il vedere e il pensare
Palazzo Ciccarelli di Casavolpe, Napoli
Solo show / Marco Adinolfi / Napoli 06.10.1999 - 08.10.1999
Council Chamber, Chiaia‑Posillipo‑San Ferdinando District

Logica incoerenza tra il vedere e il pensare marks Marco Adinolfi’s debut solo painting exhibition, composed of twelve works — primarily oil on canvas — with clear surrealist inspiration. The show proposes realistic settings and recognizable subjects that, in the artist’s execution, transform into dreamlike visions through irrational perspectives and illogical juxtapositions. The pieces subvert everyday logic, generating parallel universes that challenge rationality. Unexpected combinations and evocative symbols invite the viewer to contemplate the subconscious, dreams, and the interplay between reality and fantasy — offering a renewed perception of the real.

Disquiet vs Harmony
Shatto Gallery, Los Angeles (CA) USA
Group Show / Adinolfi  +  Adinolfi  e ICicala / 13.09.2025 - 11.10.2025

curated by Yujin Iris Jeong  and Cynthia Penna

Disquiet vs Harmony brings together nine contemporary artists—four from Korea and five from Italy—whose works explore the aesthetic tension that exists in the liminal space between disquiet and harmony; unrest and balance; chaos and order. Curated by Cynthia Penna and Yujin Iris Jeong, this exhibition presents a timely, cross-cultural dialogue that seeks to excavate and articulate the role of art during times of unrest.
Amidst today’s climate of global uncertainty and fragmentation, this exhibition investigates art’s capacity to simultaneously contain dissonance and harmony. The nine artists from Italy and Korea—Alfonso Sacco, Danilo Ambrosino, Marco Adinolfi, Massimo ICicala, Max Coppeta, Michelle Oh, Ji Oh, YC Kim, and YoungHo Seock—address the central theme of disquiet vis-à-vis harmony through a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, installation, and textiles, revealing unexpected parallels and resonances.
In Disquiet vs Harmony, art shows that harmony arises from the convergence of disparate yet inseparable elements, joined in a manner that produces an organic and coherent whole. It invites us to understand the world through frameworks of connection and collaboration—principles that we must internalize and enact in our daily lives in the face of the disquiet.

Marco Adinolfi takes part in the exhibition Disquiet vs Harmony in a dual role:
 ·  as a solo artist, with the works "Resilience" and "Regeneration"
 · as part of the duo "Adinolfi–ICicala", with the works "Trafitta illusione" and "Senza respiro"

In 3 x 6, a project curated by Ernesto Esposito for Dino Morra Gallery, artists Stefano Avalis (Manta, 1995) and Eugenio Giliberti (Naples, 1954) address formal geometries through opposing conceptual lenses. Beatrice Alici (San Donà di Piave, 1992) and Gianluca Capozzi (Avellino, 1973) employ figuration to create fairytale-like or surreal interpretations of contemporary reality. Finally, Marco Adinolfi (Naples, 1973), Massimo_Cicala (Wuppertal, 1976), and Noemi Durighello (Feltre, 1996) apply a language both abstract and informal — prompting reflection on materiality, volume, forms, and spatial dynamics intrinsic to everyday life.

Adinolfi and_Cicala, Federika Fumarola, Barbara Prenka, Sonia Riccio, Rotteveel & Vermeer, and Mattia Varini are the artists selected to explore and reflect on the evolution of informal art today. This investigation feels particularly relevant in light of recent trends marking a resurgence of figurative expression in contemporary art.
While the first edition of Re_st_Art fostered an open dialogue between diverse artistic languages, the artists in this second edition share a predominantly pictorial vision of the “non-form.” Their work is driven by a desire to communicate through matter itself, offering a personal and intimate interpretation of contemporary social values.

Silent global games
Group show  / Marco Adinolfi / 2020

Curated by Valentina Rippa

Independent curator Valentina Rippa invited artists globally to reflect on quarantine through a virtual exhibition piece by piece. Silent global games became a virtual diary of the lockdown, blending photographs, poems, paintings, sculptures, gestures, and even an original haiku by English poet Rachel Spence. The project captures collective silence and solitude, mixing contemporary images with archival memories into a poetic chronicle of the pandemic.

Artists' antivirus selfies archive
Group show / Marco Adinolfi / 2020

Curated by Brigataes project

The Apocalypse Now and Artists’ antivirus selfies archive projects by Brigata Es, conceived by Aldo Elefante, document the COVID-19 era through two lenses. Apocalypse Now collects media images to create a visual archive that interrogates pandemic narratives using black-and-white formats and censor bars. The second, artists’ antivirus selfies archive, gathers selfies of artists wearing masks — reflecting on solitude, isolation, and resilience. Both initiatives harness social media as a platform for collective memory.

_Underscore was the inaugural exhibition project at Spazio Blanch — a multifunctional contemporary art center — curated by Marco Adinolfi. The collective show involved 14 artists (Gigi Cifali, Daniel Cuberta, Corrado Folinea, Paola Risoli, Alessandro Zannier, Giacomo Montanaro, Salvatore Mauro, Antonio De Rosa, Stefano Ciannella, Marco Abbamondi, Giorgio Milano, Piero Chiariello, Massimiliano Mirabella, Carlo Colli) active across Naples, London, Zurich, Rome, Turin, and Seville. They engaged with the unusual architecture of Via T. G. Blanch’s “blank slate” space. The title underscores the symbol of the underscore (“_”) as a metaphor of connection — linking different expressions and contemporary artistic scenes. Each artist contributed to a shared cultural evolution within that “tabula rasa” environment.
